Japan & Korea 2026

Japan & Korea 2026

FigJam Collections is on a journey to share the story of Australian bush food with the world.

In 2026, we took an important step into Asia, visiting South Korea and Japan to explore new opportunities, connect with industry professionals, and introduce our products to international markets.

From curated business meetings in South Korea to showcasing Kulbanyi Tea at FOODEX Japan, this journey marked the beginning of our global expansion.

🇰🇷 South Korea

Our time in South Korea was an exciting and eye opening start to our journey into Asia.

From the moment we arrived, we felt a strong sense of curiosity and openness towards new products. Through a series of meetings and conversations, we introduced Kulbanyi Tea and shared the story behind Australian bush food.

One of the highlights was a curated session at the Shilla Hotel in Seoul, where we connected with industry professionals in a focused and engaging environment.

What stood out most was the genuine interest. Conversations quickly moved beyond introductions into ideas and possibilities, exploring how our products could fit into the market.

South Korea left us with a strong sense of potential and a clear opportunity to bring something new and meaningful to this market.

🇯🇵 Japan – FOODEX 2026

Our journey continued in Japan, where we participated in FOODEX Japan 2026, one of Asia’s leading food and beverage trade exhibitions.

We began with a visit to the Australian Embassy in Tokyo, connecting with Team Australia and gaining insights through panel discussions and industry conversations. This was followed by a retail tour, exploring Japanese supermarkets and observing local trends and consumer preferences.

During FOODEX, we introduced Kulbanyi Tea to a wide range of buyers, distributors, and industry professionals.

As a new category of tea for many, Kulbanyi Tea sparked strong interest through its unique flavour and cultural story rooted in Australian bush food. It particularly resonated as a health focused, caffeine free tea with a meaningful origin.

We had the opportunity to connect with potential partners and were encouraged by the genuine curiosity and openness towards bringing something new to the Japanese market.

This experience reinforced the importance of storytelling and product experience when introducing a new concept to a different market.

🚀 What’s Next

Following our initial steps into South Korea and Japan, we are now focused on building strong partnerships with importers and distributors.

We are currently exploring pathways to bring Kulbanyi Tea to the Japanese market, working closely with potential partners to navigate import processes and market entry strategies.

Our goal is to make Australian bush food, and Kulbanyi Tea in particular, accessible to a wider global audience and to one day see it enjoyed as part of everyday life.
